Manchester United boss Ralf Rangnick has hailed Edinson Cavani as an important player for Manchester United and hopes the striker will be available for selection until the end of the season.

Cavani, 35, has struggled with a groin problem all campaign and has been unavailable through injury for 56 per cent of United’s fixtures across all competitions.

Rangnick said: “Even Edi [Edinson Cavani], when he came on the last 10 or 15 minutes against Tottenham Hotspur, showed how important and what kind of role he can still play for the team.

“I wish him to be available until the end of the season. It was a big shame and also not good for our team to not have him available in the last six weeks.”
