Manchester United legend set to become club boss
Former Manchester United striker Ruud van Nistelrooy is set to become the next head coach of Dutch side PSV.
Van Nistelrooy who retired from playing in 2012, has been working with both PSV and the Netherlands national team for much of the time since then, working with Guus Hiddink and Ronald Koeman at international level.
The 45-year-old has been part of the PSV coaching set-up since 2013, starting first with the under-17s, before becoming manager of the under-19s in 2018.
Van Nistelrooy is now set to succeed PSV head coach Roger Schmidt, who is due to leave at the end of the season.
Van Nistelrooy will have the experienced Fred Rutten as an assistant, as he’s set for a first job in senior management.
According to Dutch publication Eindhovens Dagblad, Van Nistelrooy is seen as the ‘most important candidate’ to replace Schmidt.
