Manchester United have interviewed Ajax coach Erik ten Hag over the permanent manager’s job, Goal has confirmed.

Ten Hag is one of the leading candidates for the Manchester United job alongside Paris Saint-Germain head coach Mauricio Pochettino.

It is understood Manchester United interviewed Ten Hag on Monday but no decision has yet been taken on Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s permanent replacement as the Red Devils want to continue the interview process with the other candidates on the list.

Manchester United football director John Murtough and technical director Darren Fletcher are both spearheading the club’s search for a permanent manager.

Pochettino, along with Julen Lopetegui and Luis Enrique, are the other names on the shortlist and it is expected they will all be interviewed as part of a “thorough process” to hire the right man.

Even though the Manchester United board admire Chelsea boss Thomas Tuchel, it is understood they do not believe him to be a viable option.
