Pep Guardiola sends warning to Manchester United about appointing Erik ten Hag as Manchester United boss
52 year old Ajax boss Erik ten Hag has emerged as favourite to be appointed as Manchester United boss this summer.
He was interviewed by the club last month – with another round of talks to come.
While admitting Ten Hag’s Ajax team is a joy to watch, Manchester City boss Pep Guardiola has warned the Ajax boss isn’t a sure bet to bring success to Manchester United.
According to Guardiola, great managers like Jose Mourinho, Louis van Gaal and David Moyes have all struggled at Manchester United.
Guardiola said: “For his qualities, just take a look at his Ajax team in the last few years. It is a joy to watch.”
When asked if Ten Hag will bring success to Manchester United, he continued: “Nobody knows 100 per cent.
“There were brilliant managers since Sir Alex Ferguson left. You can’t say David Moyes is not a proper manager. Or Louis van Gaal or Jose Mourinho. All of them who have been at United are excellent.”
