“I quite liked it” – Bryan Robson singles out Man Utd player for praise after 4-0 defeat to Liverpool
Manchester United legend Bryan Robson singled out Hannibal Mejbri for praise after Manchester United suffered an embarrassing 4-0 defeat to Liverpool at Anfield on Tuesday night.
Mejbri, 19, made his first senior appearance of the season on Tuesday night, coming on as an 84th-minute substitute and quickly making his presence felt.
The teenager made a series of tackles, picking up a yellow card for a foul on Naby Keita and perhaps only avoiding further punishment as the result was beyond all doubt.
Robson was encouraged by Mejbri’s all-action cameo, telling MUTV: “You have to have control, and Hannibal took that right to the edge. I quite liked it.
“The fans want to see someone who cares. The kid only had five mins so at least he showed some pride.”
Gary Neville also reserved praise for Mejbri and said he was ‘proud’ of the youngster for imposing himself on Liverpool, something many of his teammates failed to do.
“It takes a young kid to come on and show the rest of them how to sprint for the ball and put a challenge in,” said Neville during commentary.
“I’m actually proud of him! Maybe he doesn’t like the idea of Liverpool players passing it round him. I wish the rest of them were the same.”
