“He doesn’t play the way you want to play” – Manchester United told to get rid of Cristiano Ronaldo this summer despite scoring 23 goals
Former Manchester City defender Danny Mills believes Manchester United should get rid of Cristiano Ronaldo this summer despite his 23 goals for Manchester United this season.
Mills believes Ronaldo does not fit Erik ten Hag’s style of play and, as a result, the Dutchman should move Ronaldo on this summer.
Speaking to the Metro on behalf of Free Super Tips, he said: “If you’re coming in with a new plan and a new way of playing energetic football and Ronaldo doesn’t suit that, then it’s an issue.
“He’s only going to be there for another year at most, so would it be wise to move him on now?
“Not because he’s a bad player or a bad influence, but just because he doesn’t play the way you want to play.
“United have had to adapt around him this season and will have to next season until he’s gone.”
Meanwhile, Dutch legend Marco van Basten has urged Ten Hag not to drop Ronaldo when he takes over in the summer.
Van Basten told The Rondo Show: “If Ronaldo carries on playing like he did last week (against Norwich) and scores two or three goals in a match on a regular basis, there is no need to take him out of the team.”
