“There aren’t many players with his quality in the world” – Manchester United receive warning player isn’t for sale
Barcelona boss Xavi has warned Manchester United off transfer target Frenkie de Jong.
Incoming Manchester United boss Erik ten Hag managed De Jong at Ajax before the midfielder left for Barcelona and Ten Hag reportedly wants to reunite with the midfielder at Manchester United.
However, Xavi has hailed De Jong as a player that can make the difference and insists the midfielder is the future of Barcelona amid interest from Manchester United.
“He has to be a player that makes the difference and he does. There aren’t many players with his quality in the world,” Xavi said in a press conference on Saturday.
“He’s the present and the future here. He is a very important player for me. He’s capable, strong, he gets into the box… He has had some excellent games, but he has to be consistent.”
Manchester United aren’t the only team interested in signing De Jong this summer.
According to Italian media outlet Calciomercato, French giants Paris Saint-Germain have now joined the race to sign the Barcelona midfielder.
Paris Saint-Germain have reportedly told the representatives of the Barcelona midfielder that they will move for him if he wants to leave Barcelona this summer and Barcelona decide to sell.
