Brilliant Manchester United beat Brentford 3-0 to end home campaign on a high
Cristiano Ronaldo scored his 24th goal of the season as Manchester United beat Brentford 3-0 in our final home game of the season.
Bruno Fernandes opened the scoring for Manchester United as he volleyed home a cross from Anthony Elanga. Diogo Dalot played a ball over the top from deep which Elanga ran onto before he delivered a cross that Fernandes met with an unstoppable volley.
It was Fernandes’ 50th goal for Manchester United in 124 appearances for the club.
It should have been 2-0 minutes before half-time after Ronaldo scored from a Juan Mata pass but the goal was ruled out for offside by VAR and United went into the interval with only a one goal lead.
Ronaldo then won a penalty and made it 2-0 for Manchester United, sending the Brentford goalkeeper the wrong way. Ronaldo used his strength to nudge Rico Henry away as he charged into the area. Henry responded by clattering back into him and the ref pointed to the spot.
Raphael Varane scored Manchester United’s third goal to secure Ralf Rangnick’s biggest victory as Manchester United boss.
