Chelsea boss Thomas Tuchel keen on signing player Ralf Rangnick recommended to Manchester United
Chelsea boss Thomas Tuchel is reportedly ready to battle with Manchester United for a transfer target this summer.
According to Metro UK, Tuchel wants Chelsea to battle Manchester United for the signature of RB Leipzig star Christopher Nkunku – a player Ralf Rangnick has personally recommended to the Red Devils.
The 24 year old RB Leipzig star has had an impressive season, scoring 34 goals and providing 14 assists in all competitions this season.
Rangnick – who held a key role across Red Bull’s football clubs when Nkunku moved to Leipzig – was said to be shocked when he learned that United had not been tracking the Frenchman, with Rangnick believing him to be one of the most promising young talents in Europe.
Bayern Munich are also reportedly interested in signing the 24 year old France international.
Despite numerous interest in Nkunku, the 24 year old could remain at RB Leipzig as the German side do not want to sell their most prized asset, particularly with the club already resigned to losing Konrad Laimer this summer.
Speaking a few days ago, Leipzig director Oliver Mintzlaff was emphatic in his assertion that Nkunku would not leave the club, saying: “We have clearly discussed it internally: we won’t let Nkunku leave this summer, we told him and his agent.”
