“He’s a real beast and will score lots of goals” – Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp gives verdict on striker with 61 league goals that Man Utd refused to sign
Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp has called Erling Haaland a beast following his transfer to Manchester City for £51million after scoring 61 league goals in 66 games for Borussia Dortmund.
Haaland was open to joining Manchester United from RB Salzburg in January 2020 for just £18million but the Red Devils pulled out of the deal due to his insistence on adding a release clause to his contract.
Reacting to City’s signing of Haaland, Klopp said: “[Haaland is a] good player!
“But City was never and will never be a team that wins games because of one player.
“I think Erling will realise all of a sudden he will score a lot of goals on the second post, where he just puts a foot in, so he will love that.
“He is a real beast.”
Klopp also admitted that Haaland’s arrival will make City even better.
“How much better does he make them? A lot!” Klopp noted.
“He was injured a couple of times at Dortmund, but when he’s fit he’s a real beast.
“Unfortunately, he’s a really good signing.”
