Manchester United may have been handed a huge boost in the pursuit of Frenkie de Jong, with Barcelona reportedly ‘willing’ to sell the midfielder for a cut price.

New Manchester United boss Erik ten Hag is keen to reunite with De Jong at Manchester United ahead of next season.

According to Goal via Manchester Evening News, Barcelona will accept a bid of just over £50million for De Jong this summer as they entertain offers for a number of their players.

That will be a loss on a player the Spanish side signed from Ajax for £65million back in 2019 after reaching the semi-finals of the Champions League with Ten Hag’s Ajax side.

Barcelona are in debt and are aware that deals done in the summer transfer window could help to free up much-needed funds and squad space.

The Barcelona board reportedly consider De Jong as replaceable and are willing to enter talks with any team interested in signing the midfielder if suitable offers are received.

It is understood Barcelona are willing to listen to offers for around 80 per cent of their first-team players this summer. Only five or six players are now considered to be priceless and out of reach for any potential suitor. That list is made up of Ansu Fati, Pedri, Gavi, Ferran Torres, Ronald Araujo and Eric Garcia.
