Manchester United captain Harry Maguire got married to his partner Fern Hawkins in a surprise low-key wedding on Thursday, according to The Mirror.

After training on Thursday shortly after midday, Maguire headed straight to the Registry Office ceremony, where fiancee Fern Hawkins was waiting for him.

The Mirror revealed guests were told the venue of Crewe Registry Office in a text message earlier on Thursday.

The couple, who met while they were teenagers more than 10 years ago, kept the details secret from all but their closest family and friends.

They will take their marriage vows again in France this summer at a romantic ceremony held at a chateau.

Only a small group of loved ones attended the ceremony on Thursday afternoon.

Harry and Fern met when they were both 18 and have been engaged since 2018. They are parents to Lillie Saint, three, and Piper Rose, born in May 2020.

Harry’s brothers Laurence, 25, and Joe, 30, along with his England team mate Jordan Pickford attended the wedding.

“It was a closely guarded secret to all but their closest family and friends,” a source told The Mirror.

“They wanted to be officially married in the UK before they head to France.

“That will be a fairytale wedding day for Fern.”
