Cristiano Ronaldo finally sends message to new Manchester United boss Erik ten Hag

Cristiano Ronaldo has said that new Manchester United manager Erik ten Hag will need time to turn around the club’s fortunes.

In his first comments about Ten Hag since he was officially appointed by United last month on a three-year contract to begin this summer, Ronaldo suggested he was excited for the future at Old Trafford.

“What I know about him is he did a fantastic job for Ajax, that he’s an experienced coach,” Ronaldo told Manchester United’s official website. “But we need to give him time.

“Things need to change the way he wants.

“I hope we have success, of course, because, if you have success, all of Manchester is going to have success as well. I wish him the best.

“We are happy and excited, not only as players, but the supporters as well.

“I wish him the best and let’s believe that, next year, we are going to win trophies.”

Despite a desperately disappointing season for Manchester United that will see the Red Devils miss out on Champions League qualification for next season, Ronaldo has scored a team-high 24 goals in all competitions. His 18 Premier League goals are almost a third of the team’s total.
