According to 90min, Newcastle United are confident that they will soon finalise a deal for French starlet Hugo Ekitike.

Manchester United are reportedly interested in signing the 19 year old Reims forward and have reportedly made an enquiry over his transfer.

Newcastle United tried to sign the forward during the January transfer window before a deal eventually was called off on deadline day, but Newcastle’s interest has never waned.

Despite interest from Manchester United, 90min claim Ekitike is keen to move to Newcastle and wants to be a part of the project currently underway at St James’ Park. The teenager also appreciates the fact that Eddie Howe is a big believer in his talents.

The 19 year old striker has scored 9 goals this season for the French club in 22 appearances so far this season, with 14 appearances coming from the start.

Ekitike would be available for around €15million and new Manchester United boss Erik ten Hag has reportedly urged the club to sign the teenager.

Ekitike, who has just returned to action following a muscle problem, is being tracked by clubs from around Europe including the likes of Manchester City, Chelsea, Juventus and Borussia Dortmund.
