“He just lacks the final pass” – Cesc Fabregas warns Manchester United against signing midfielder wanted by Erik ten Hag
Manchester United have been warned that Barcelona midfielder Frenkie de Jong isn’t the complete package amid interest from Manchester United.
That’s the view of former Barcelona star Cesc Fabregas who claims De Jong’s passing isn’t up to scratch.
Erik ten Hag managed De Jong at Ajax and is keen on reuniting with the 25 year old midfielder at Manchester United.
Fabregas admits he likes De Jong but insists the 25 year old midfielder needs to add the final pass to his game.
Fabregas told Catalunya Radio: “When the expectation is very high it is not easy. I like Frenkie a lot, he breaks lines by driving the ball, he just lacks the final pass.”
The 35-year-old Fabregas left Barcelona at a very young age in 2003, joining Arsenal. He returned to Camp Nou in 2011 and spent three years at the club before returning to England, as he signed for Chelsea.
Fabregas is set to become a free agent in the summer, with his contract with AS Monaco expiring at the end of the next month.
Meanwhile, Manchester United are prepared to make De Jong highest paid star in Manchester United in order to lure him from Barcelona, according to Daily Star.
Manchester United are reportedly hoping to lure De Jong to Old Trafford by offering him a salary of £395,000 a week, which will make him the best paid at Manchester United.
