Erik ten Hag is a big fan – Manchester United could enter race for Tottenham Hotspur winger
Manchester United boss Erik ten Hag is reportedly a big fan of Tottenham Hotspur winger Steven Bergwijn, who is keen on leaving the Premier League side this summer, according to ESPN.
Ten Hag tried to sign Bergwijn during his time as Ajax boss and it is believed the Manchester United boss could make a move for the winger following his availability this summer.
Bergwijn is keen on leaving Tottenham Hotspur this summer in search of regular playing time and Tottenham Hotspur are reportedly open to letting him leave for €25million (£21.46 million).
Bergwijn has fallen down the pecking order at Tottenham Hotspur following Dejan Kulusevski’s arrival from Juventus in January and has not started a game for Spurs since Jan. 23, when Tottenham lost 2-0 at Chelsea.
Manchester United making a move for Bergwijn appears unlikely as the winger is targeting regular first-team football ahead of the World Cup in Qatar later this year.
If Bergwijn couldn’t get regular first-team football at Tottenham Hotspur, it’s very unlikely he will get regular first-team football at a top club like Manchester United.
He appears more likely to return to his native Holland and join Ajax, who have already had two bids for the winger rejected by Tottenham Hotspur.
