Premier League star told joining Manchester United would be a step backwards
Former Premier League forward Gabby Agbonlahor has claimed Harry Kane joining Manchester United will be a step backwards for the Tottenham Hotspur striker.
Rumours connecting the forward with an Old Trafford switch cooled after it was clear United’s top-four hopes were over. Said rumours became almost non-existent when Tottenham qualified for the Champions League.
Kane was keen on leaving Tottenham Hotspur last summer but now looks set to stay at Tottenham under Antonio Conte ahead of next season.
Agbonlahor told talkSPORT: ” “There’s no chance of him going to Manchester United, why would you go down?
“Manchester United aren’t as good as Spurs and I don’t think they will be next season.”
He went on to explain how there are not many other options for Kane other than staying on at Spurs.
He added: “Manchester City move has gone, Chelsea have [Romelu] Lukaku – they probably won’t be able to get rid of him – where is there? Liverpool I don’t think would go in for him with the money it’ll cost.
“He’ll look at the project, look at how [Antonio] Conte has got them in the Champions League. He’s back in the biggest competition and he’ll be thinking Conte can attract more players to close the gap on Chelsea then eventually maybe going for a title with Spurs – which is unlikely but that’s what Harry Kane would do.”
