Manchester United are eyeing a shock move for want-away Liverpool midfielder Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain, according to TalkSPORT.

Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain is said to be desperate to leave Anfield, having started just nine Premier League games last season.

The England international has just one year left on his Liverpool contract and Manchester United would be ‘seriously interested’ in acquiring him if Liverpool are willing to accept a cut-price £10million deal.

Signing at least two midfielders is a priority for new Manchester United boss Erik ten Hag with Paul Pogba, Juan Mata, Jesse Lingard and Nemanja Matic all set to leave at the end of June.

Barcelona’s Frenkie de Jong is a top target for the Red Devils but it is clear that a number of midfield reinforcements are needed this summer.

Oxlade-Chamberlain is also admired by old club Southampton but the south coast side have concerns over his injury records and wage demands.

Meanwhile, Anthony Elanga has told Erik ten Hag the best position to unlock his full potential at Manchester United.
