Manchester United goalkeeper David de Gea has hailed Manchester United forward Cristiano Ronaldo as an example to every Manchester United player.
De Gea believes Cristiano Ronaldo’s dedication to the game and fitness make him one of the greatest players in history.
David de Gea said: “The way he [Cristiano Ronaldo] works speaks for himself. The way he treats himself, his body.
“He is focused in every training session and every game. This is why he is one of the best in history. He’s mentally very strong and that’s an example for everyone.”
Despite being 37, Ronaldo is still one of the best players in the world.
The Portugal captain scored 24 goals for Manchester United in all competitions last season, with 18 of those goals in the Premier League.
Meanwhile, former Manchester United skipper Gary Neville has told Erik ten Hag to sign another centre-forward despite Cristiano Ronaldo reportedly deciding to stay for another season.
“I think, to be honest with you, I don’t know which area needs strengthening fully until we know which players the new manager likes,” Gary Neville said.
“We know the areas they absolutely need to actually strengthen,” he added.
“Central midfield is an absolute necessity. An absolute necessity. Manchester United need midfield players.
“They also need a centre-forward. I know Cristiano Ronaldo is likely to stay and he’s an absolutely brilliant performer, but they need a centre-forward. Centre-forward is a must.
“I think there’ll need to be a wide player, just to beef up the squad, and I think full-backs are absolutely critical in the modern game.
“[There are] four full-backs there, it’ll be interesting to see which two, three or four of those are liked.”
Manchester United were linked with a move for Benfica striker Darwin Nunez to ease the goalscoring burden on Ronaldo but the Uruguayan striker is set to join rivals Liverpool.
