Manchester United transfer target Frenkie de Jong has revealed he would love to play alongside another Manchester United transfer target Robert Lewandowski.

Both Barcelona and Manchester United are interested in signing the 33 year old Poland international striker this summer.

Lewandowski has one year left on his Bayern Munich contract and has revealed he wants to leave the German champions this summer.

Barcelona is Lewandowski’s preference but Manchester United have a big chance of signing the striker due to Barcelona’s financial difficulties.

Barcelona are in debt of about €1billion and must sell the top earners in their squad this summer before signing new players.

While Barcelona have a lot to do before signing Lewandowski, Manchester United are ready to offer the Bayern Munich striker £400,000-a-week to move to Old Trafford.

New Manchester United boss Erik ten Hag is desperate to be reunited with Frenkie de Jong at Old Trafford, though Barcelona are demanding around €100million (£85million) for the former Ajax midfielder.

Frenkie de Jong spoke with Lewandowski after Holland’s 2-2 draw against Poland in the UEFA Nations League on Saturday.

While the Dutchman did not want to disclose what was said between the two players, he made it clear he would love to play alongside the striker.

Frenkie de Jong told TVP Sport: “He’s an amazing player, one of the best in the world. It’s up to him.”

Probed further on what he would like Lewandowski to do amid interest from Barcelona and Manchester United, Frenkie de Jong added: “Of course I would like to have him in my team!”

De Jong was also if he will be swapping the beaches in Catalunya for the cold of Manchester, he burst out laughing before replying: “No… I can’t say anything!”

Spanish media outlet Marca are claiming French club Paris Saint-Germain have now joined the race for Lewandowski.

PSG reportedly believe Lewandowski could be a great complement to the Messi-Mbappe-Neymar trio. In addition, they beliege they would bring in a player with a great ability to score goals.

So it’s Barcelona, Manchester United, Chelsea and Paris Saint-Germain are in the race for Lewandowski. Interesting.
