Antony joined Ajax from Sao Paulo in 2020, and has massively impressed during his two years in the Netherlands.
Erik ten Hag believes his trickery and an eye for goal will be important for his new and exciting Manchester United team.
De Jong impressed at Ajax under Erik ten Hag before his big money move to Barcelona in the summer of 2019.
Things haven’t quite worked out in Catalunya for De Jong though, with his old boss’s desire for a reunion likely to persuade him to move to Old Trafford.
Transfer guru Alex Crook told talkSPORT: “I think United are definitely in for Antony.
“His numbers for much of the season were decent, I think he missed the end of the campaign injured but he’s obviously someone that Erik ten Hag knows well.
“There’s been talk of a £40million bid going in for him, certainly my sources at United haven’t distanced themselves from those rumours so I think Antony is a target.
“In fact I’ve had a text from somebody else saying if he doesn’t become a Manchester United player this summer I would be surprised.
“I think at the moment him and Frenkie De Jong look like two definite arrivals at Manchester United and are two players that Ten Hag clearly trusts and believes he can get the best out of.”
Antony has previously hailed Ten Hag’s ability to improve every player that he works with, amid reports suggesting the Brazilian is closing in on a move to Old Trafford.
“Every player under his guidance becomes a better footballer through his training,” Antony told Dutch newspaper De Telegraaf.
“Since my arrival, he has given me a lot of confidence and believed in what I can do.
“I am grateful to him for that. I respect him very much.”
