Manchester United boss Erik ten Hag has revealed the ideal player the club should sign this summer.
According to Sports Mole, Ten Hag is a huge admirer of FC Porto midfielder Vitinha.
The report adds Ten Hag believes that Vitinha’s style is perfect for his brand of football.
Following the recommendation from Ten Hag, Manchester United are set to submit an offer the 22 year old FC Porto midfielder in the coming days.
Vitinha has just two years left to run on his FC Porto contract which has a release clause of €40million.
FC Porto will reportedly only let Vitinha join Manchester United this summer if the Red Devils trigger his €40million release clause.
Vitinha was a key player for FC Porto last season as they won the Portuguese league title.
He made 47 appearances in all competitions, contributing four goals and five assists for FC Porto.
Liverpool, Bayern Munich, Lazio and Real Madrid are among the clubs to be credited with an interest in the Portugal international.
Vitinha’s agent is super-agent Jorge Mendes who has a good relationship with Manchester United. Mendes also represents Manchester United forward Cristiano Ronaldo.
Vitinha showed his versatility in the latter stages of last season by operating as a left-sided midfielder, but he largely featured as a central midfielder for the Blue and Whites in 2021-22.
Manchester United will still continue the pursuit of Barcelona midfielder Frenkie de Jong even when the signing of Vitinha is completed.
Ten Hag needs two central midfielders to be signed this summer following the exit of Nemanja Matic and Paul Pogba.
Manchester United have also submitted an offer to sign Christian Eriksen as a free agent this summer.
Premier League sides Tottenham Hotspur, Newcastle United, Leicester City and Brentford are also interested in signing the 30 year old Denmark international.
