French champions Paris Saint-Germain have hijacked Manchester United’s move for Portugal international Vitinha.
Portuguese media outlet A Bola had claimed Manchester United were closing in on signing the Portugal international from Porto but it is Paris Saint-Germain that have now won the race for the midfielder.
Vitinha has a release clause of €40million in his FC Porto contract and is set to leave the Portuguese champions this summer.
According to transfer expert Fabrizio Romano, Paris Saint-Germain are set to sign Vitinha after submitting an offer of €40million for the midfielder.
The offer has now been accepted by Porto and personal terms have also now been agreed between Paris Saint-Germain and the midfielder.
Vitinha was a key player for Porto as they won the league title last season.
He made 47 appearances in all competitions, contributing four goals and five assists for FC Porto last season.
With Vitinha set to join Paris Saint-Germain, Manchester United will now push ahead with other transfer targets.
Manchester United still remain interested in signing Barcelona midfielder Frenkie de Jong and a move is now getting closer.
According to Spanish media outlet AS, De Jong has now cleared his locker at Barcelona as he prepares to join Manchester United this summer.
Erik ten Hag is now set to achieve his desire of reuniting with De Jong at Old Trafford.
De Jong worked under Ten Hag at Ajax, where they won the domestic double and reached a Champions League final together in 2019 before joining Barcelona.
De Jong’s decision to clear his locker at Barcelona means United are now getting closer to reaching an agreement with Barcelona for his transfer.
Barcelona are reportedly now offering De Jong to interested clubs for €80million but no club has responded except Manchester United.
Manchester United have also submitted a one year contract with an option to extend for another year to Denmark international Christian Eriksen.
Eriksen wants to take his time to consider all offers he has received.
