Manchester United have reportedly identified an ideal replacement for Dean Henderson, who is set to leave the club this summer.

Henderson is set to join newly promoted Nottingham Forest this summer and has reportedly agreed personal terms ahead of a loan move.

Manchester United have given Henderson the greenlight to leave the club this summer.

The England goalkeeper has endured a difficult season, falling behind David De Gea having previously won the number one spot.

Henderson failed to make any Premier against appearance for Manchester United last season.

Henderson’s loan move to Nottingham Forest is expected to have an option to make it permanent but Nottingham Forest and Manchester United are yet to agree on a fee.

According to The Athletic, Manchester United have identified Watford goalkeeper Daniel Bachmann as an ideal replacement for Henderson.

Bachmann’s transfer to Manchester United will only cost the Red Devils between £2million and £4million.

Bachmann, 27, has been at Watford since 2017 and played 23 times as the Hornets won promotion from the Championship in 2020-21.

Following Watford’s promotion to the Premier League, the Austrian goalkeeper lost his place in the starting XI to Ben Foster, has now left Vicarage Road.

Despite the exit of Foster, Bachmann isn’t expected to be number one goalkeeper next season as Watford have signed 22 year old goalkeeper Maduka Okoye from Sparta Rotterdam for nearly £5million.

With Bachmann set to be second choice next season at Watford, a move to Manchester United to be second choice would appeal to the Austrian goalkeeper, who would have the opportunity to feature in the Europa League.

Bachmann will also prefer to play a supporting role behind David de Gea at Manchester United than take a wage cut to stay at Watford following their relegation to the Championship.

Should Manchester United not replace Henderson this summer, 36-year-old Tom Heaton, who has only played 22 minutes since returning to Old Trafford last summer, could step up to be No 2.
