Erik ten Hag is set to sign the new Neymar for Manchester United
Manchester United boss Erik ten Hag has been told he’s set to bring the new Neymar to Manchester United.
According to Brazil head coach Tite, Antony of Ajax, a key transfer target of Ten Hag, has the same characteristics as PSG star Neymar.
Ten Hag has identified Antony as a key signing for Manchester United this summer and the Red Devils held talks with Ajax on Tuesday.
Antony is seen by Ten Hag as an ideal solution to his side’s problematic right-hand side, with United hoping he can ease the burden on Cristiano Ronaldo.
Asked whether Neymar is a technical leader for Brazil, Tite replied: “Yes absolutely!
“Especially now, to share the professionalism with a series of athletes with his characteristic.
“Antony has that characteristic, Raphinha too, Vinicius, Rodrygo does, too.”
22 year old Antony established himself as one of the key players for Ajax under Ten Hag last season.
He weighed in with 12 goals and 10 assists as Ajax picked up yet another Eredivisie title last season.
Meanwhile, Ajax have told Manchester United that the Red Devils must choose between signing Antony or Martinez this summer.
Ajax are reluctant to allow Erik ten Hag’s plan to rebuild Manchester United lead to a mass exodus of the players he left behind in Amsterdam.
Ajax have already lost Ryan Gravenberch to German champions Bayern Munich for £16.6million.
Their top goalscorer last season Sebastian Haller is set to join Borussia Dortmund for £30million.
Bayern Munich have also snapped up Noussair Mazraoui on a free transfer from Ajax.
Ajax do not want to hand new coach Alfred Schreuder a squad that has been stripped bare.
Ajax are resigned to losing either Martinez or Antony following Jurrien Timber’s decision to stay put – but not both.
Only a huge offer from Manchester United can convince Ajax to sell Martinez and Antony to Manchester United this summer.
