Let me go – Player tells club to allow him join Manchester United
Manchester United have been handed a huge boost in the club’s pursuit of Ajax star and Brazil international Antony.
According to Goal, Brazilian attacker Antony is determined to join Manchester United this summer.
Antony has reportedly made it clear to Ajax that he wants to reunite with Erik ten Hag at Manchester United.
Manchester United held discussions with Ajax over the 22-year-old on Tuesday but have not yet made an offer to Ajax.
Manchester United boss Erik ten Hag is keen on signing Antony this summer following the exits of Edinson Cavani and Jesse Lingard this summer.
Antony has a strong relationship with Ten Hag after the pair worked together at Ajax, winning two Eredivisie titles and the Dutch cup.
Premier League side Tottenham Hotspur are also interested in signing Antony but the Brazilian’s preference is Manchester United.
Antony isn’t the only player on Ten Hag’s shortlist as the Manchester United boss is also keen on signing Barcelona midfielder Frenkie de Jong.
The Red Devils have also offered a deal to Denmark international Christian Eriksen, who will be a free agent at the end of the month.
Inter Milan’s Denzel Dumfries has been identified as a potential right back, while Ajax centre-back Lisandro Martinez is being targeted after Jurrien Timber ruled out a move to Manchester United this summer.
It is believed Ten Hag wants five new players added to the squad this summer.
Meanwhile, Antony has admitted it would be a dream to play for Brazil in the World Cup later this year.
He told The Guardian: “Performing in the Champions League. I had the chance to play on that stage in my first season and at that very high level I hope to show more and more of myself.
“The World Cup is also on my priority list. It would be a dream to play for Brazil in Qatar. And I’m going to work hard for that.”
