Manchester United boss Erik ten Hag has given the club the greenlight to sell Manchester United forward Anthony Martial for £20million this summer, according to The Sun.

The 26-year-old Frenchman has seen a dramatic dip in form over the last two years and failed to convince potential suitors after a terrible loan spell at Sevilla.

Martial recorded his career best stats for United under Ole Gunnar Solskjaer in 2019-20 hitting 23 goals in 48 games.

However, he has scored just eight goals in the last two years for Manchester United.

After falling down the pecking order at the club, Martial left the club in January for a loan spell at Spanish side Sevilla.

But unfortunately, the Frenchman flopped during his loan spell at Sevilla, scoring just once for the La Liga side.

Manchester United are open to offers for Martial this summer but his £240,000-a-week wages is making it difficult to attract offers.

His poor form for Manchester United and also Sevilla on loan means clubs aren’t interested in signing the 26 year old forward.

Manchester United hope to increase interest in Martial by dropping the asking price for the striker to £20million.

Manchester United’s £20million asking price for Martial is lower than the £38.5million the club paid Monaco to sign the 26 year old in 2015 during the era of Louis van Gaal.

With Manchester United set to sign Antony from Ajax this summer, Martial has to leave the club this summer as he will fall even further in the pecking order.

Martial has 79 goals in 269 games in all since his switch from Monaco in 2015.

Transfer expert Fabrizio Romano has also confirmed Manchester United are open to selling Martial this summer.

Speaking to Give Me Sport, Romanoao claimed that the Old Trafford hierarchy remains ‘open’ to the 30-cap France international leaving during the transfer window.

He said: “For Martial, at the moment, the situation is still the same.

“He’s waiting to speak with ten Hag, but Manchester United are open to discuss in case they will receive some proposals in the coming days.”
