Man United to hijack Arsenal’s transfer target after hijacking Lyon’s move for Tyrell Malacia
Manchester United will move quickly to hijack Arsenal’s move for Ajax centre-back Lisandro Martinez after completing the deal for Feyenoord left-back Tyrell Malacia.
Manchester United are now seeking to quickly complete deals for other transfer targets after reaching an agreement with Barcelona for the transfer of Frenkie de Jong.
After reaching an agreement with Barcelona for De Jong, Manchester United quickly submitted a bid for Feyenoord left-back Malacia.
According to Fabrizio Romano, the Red Devils offered €15million plus €2million add-ons to Feyenoord for the transfer of Malacia.
“The agreement is there [with United],” Feyenoord sporting director Frank Arnesen said.
“We are now waiting for Tyrell. If he says yes, then a transfer to Manchester United is imminent.”
While the left-back also has an offer from Lyon, L’Equipe report that Malacia has informed the Ligue 1 side he will sign for United.
According to The Times via Metro, Manchester United will step up interest in signing Ajax centre-back Martinez once the deal for Malacia is concluded.
Arsenal have reportedly had a bid for Martinez rejected by Ajax with the Dutch club demanding for a fee closer to £45million.
Meanwhile, Manchester United’s hopes of signing Christian Eriksen could be boosted if the Red Devils complete a move for De Jong by the end of the month.
Manchester United have offered Eriksen a two-year contract to join the club but face competition from Brentford.
Eriksen is said to be ‘attracted’ by the prospect of playing alongside De Jong at Manchester United.
Should Manchester United seal a move for De Jong this week when Eriksen is expected to make a decision on his future, the Denmark international midfielder will join Manchester United.
Manchester United are confident of completing the transfer of De Jong by Thursday.
Manchester United have been fully focused on signing De Jong, such is Erik ten Hag’s determination to sign the midfielder.
