“He’s such a big asset” – Louis Saha hails Manchester United star
Former Manchester United striker Louis Saha insists it ‘wouldn’t be the right move’ for Manchester United to offload Cristiano Ronaldo this summer amid speculation linking the striker with an exit from Old Trafford.
According to Saha, Ronaldo is a big asset for Manchester United.
Ronaldo has been linked with Chelsea, Inter Miami, Roma, and a return to former club Sporting Lisbon this summer.
He scored 24 goals in all competitions for Manchester United last season.
“It could go both ways, no one can guarantee anything apart from Cristiano. He’s the only one to answer that,” Saha told BonusCodeBets.
“It wouldn’t be the right move for Man United to let him go because he’s such a big asset.
“I can definitely see him continuing to keep doing what he’s doing best, which is scoring goals and helping his club get back to where it belongs.”
In terms of if he can play a big role in Erik ten Hag’s Manchester United side, Saha said: “Definitely. Not only by scoring goals, but with his stature.
“I’m sure the new manager will want to implement some new rules and new standards that fit with Ronaldo.
“Maybe not so much on the pressing side, but his work ethic and his desire to always be accountable.
“Performance-wise, Ronaldo is up there with the best, he’ll drive the players that need confidence, like Rashford. It’s a new manager, new rules, new atmosphere and I’m very excited.”
Meanwhile, former Barcelona boss Ronald Koeman has revealed what Barcelona midfielder Frenkie de Jong told him about Manchester United transfer.
De Jong is Erik ten Hag’s priority signing this summer. Ten Hag seeks to build the Manchester United team around the Barcelona midfielder.
Manchester United failed with an initial bid for De Jong but have now reportedly agreed a fee of €85million including add-ons with Barcelona.
Koeman still maintains a close relationship with De Jong, having coached the midfielder at Barcelona and also in international level with Holland.
“The only thing I know is that Frenkie wants to continue at Barca,” Koeman told Esport 3.
“A couple of days ago he told me he wanted to continue. What I don’t know is if Barca wants to sell him or needs money because he is one of the few players for whom they can get a good amount.
“For me, De Jong is a great player for Barca.”
