“I want to join Manchester United” – Player tells club CEO and board
Lisandro Martinez has made it clear to Ajax that he wants to leave the Dutch club this summer, amid interest from Manchester United.
According to Daily Mail, the Argentina international has told the Ajax board including Edwin van der Sar and Klass-Jan Huntelaar, that his mind is already in the Premier League.
Lisandro is currently on holiday in Ibiza after an impressive season for Ajax which saw him named Ajax Player of the Year.
Manchester United and Arsenal have already submitted offers of around £38million for Lisandro Martinez.
Ajax reportedly value Martinez at around £43million.
Arsenal have had two offers rejected with their last, on Monday, coming in at £34m plus add-ons up to £38m. Manchester United offered £35.3m plus guaranteed add ons to £38m.
Martinez has reportedly told Ajax to reach an agreement soon with either Arsenal or Manchester United but he prefers a move to Manchester United.
Martinez has kept a low profile so far out of respect to Ajax and their supporters as he is a popular figure.
Martinez wants Ajax to respect what he considers the gentleman’s agreement that was put in place when he signed a contract extension that he could leave should a big club make a substantial offer for him.
The 24 year old is keen on playing in the Premier League next season and doesn’t want to lose the opportunity by staying at Ajax for another season.
Martinez is a versatile player who can play as a centre-back, left-back or defensive midfielder.
We need to sign good players this summer so that we be among the computers this season
I will be happy if Martinez can join Manchester United.
And then, Manchester United need some players that will help them.
