Manchester United make move to sign Arsenal flop as replacement for Cristiano Ronaldo
Manchester United are reportedly interested in signing Arsenal flop Serge Gnabry as replacement for Cristiano Ronaldo.
On Saturday, it was reported that Ronaldo had told Manchester United that he wants to leave the club this summer due to his desire to continue playing in the Champions League.
The Portugal captain asked Manchester United to sell him if an interested club submits an acceptable offer for his transfer.
While Manchester United insists Cristiano Ronaldo isn’t for sale at any cost, a potential replacement has already been found in the form of Serge Gnabry.
Gnabry, who failed to make an impact at Arsenal, has become one of the best players in the world since leaving for the Bundesliga.
The 26 year old forward has just one year left in his Bayern Munich contract and is keen on leaving the German champions this summer.
Gnabry recently turned down a new deal with Bayern worth just over £200,000-a-week and is interested in joining a Premier League club this summer.
According to The Sun, Bayern Munich are open to selling the 26 year old this summer to avoid losing him as a free agent next summer.
Manchester United are interested in the former Arsenal player but could face competition from rivals Manchester City.
Manchester City are also keen on signing Gnabry with the Premier League champions set to lose Gabriel Jesus and Raheem Sterling to Arsenal and Chelsea respectively.
Once considered an Arsenal flop, Gnabry has developed into an elite forward in recent years, scoring 64 and assisting 40 over the last four seasons, winning four league titles and the Champions League.
Bayern Munich would consider offers in the region of £35million for the German international.
