This Manchester United transfer target will be happy to see Cristiano Ronaldo leave
Manchester United transfer target Antony will be happy to see Cristiano Ronaldo leave Manchester United for one reason.
Reports emerged on Saturday that Ronaldo has asked to leave Manchester United this summer in pursuit of Champions League football.
According to The Times, the 37-year-old, who returned to Old Trafford in August last year, has told the club that he wishes to leave if an interested club submits a suitable offer.
Ajax star Antony has been identified as an ideal replacement for Cristiano Ronaldo by Manchester United boss Erik ten Hag.
Antony will be happy to see Cristiano Ronaldo leave Manchester United this summer so he can take the No.7 shirt.
Currently, the 22-year-old wears the No.11 shirt for Ajax – a number he has worn for almost a year.
However, he has also sported the No.7 shirt – a number that is often associated with a winger – in the past, wearing it for both Sao Paulo and Brazil at Under-23s level.
Antony, given his creativity and flair, would be the perfect candidate to take the No.7 shirt should Ronaldo leave the club.
David Beckham and Eric Cantona are among the most famous faces to have worn No.7 at United.
Antony lit up the Dutch league with his performances last season, scoring eight goals and grabbing four assists. In total, he scored 12 goals and grabbed 10 assists in all competitions.
