I want this player signed before Friday – Ten Hag tells Manchester United
Manchester United boss Erik ten Hag has told the Manchester United board that he wants Ajax centre-back Lisandro Martinez signed before Friday.
This is according to Dutch media outlet De Telegraaf.
Manchester United fly out for pre-season tour on Friday and Ten Hag wants Lisandro Martinez to be a Manchester United player before then.
Premier League rival Arsenal are also interested in signing the 24 year old Ajax centre-back and they are scheduled to meet Ajax this week.
Manchester United have already offered Ajax €40 million guaranteed, with a potential further €5 million in add-ons.
However, the Dutch club want around €50 million guaranteed for the 24 year old Argentina international.
Martinez is said to have told the Eredivisie champions that the only option he will consider this summer is a move to the Premier League.
When the 24 year old signed a new contract with Ajax last October, there was an understanding that they would not stand in his way if such an opportunity arose.
Ten Hag is keen on signing Martinez this summer after the 24 year old was named Ajax Player of the Year following an impressive season for the Dutch champions.
Martinez has played mostly in central defence but can also play as a left-back and a defensive midfielder.
He has made 120 appearances for Ajax since arriving from Argentinian side Defensa y Justicia in 2019.
