Former Manchester United striker Robin van Persie has congratulated Tyrell Malacia on his move to Manchester United.
Manchester United announced the signing of Malacia on a four year contract on Tuesday with the option of another year.
The transfer is worth €15million with an additional €2million in add-ons.
Van Persie also revealed Manchester United fans will enjoy watching Tyrell Malacia play.
Van Persie tweeted: “Congrats on this fantastic move Tyrell Malacia! 100% deserved, hard work pays off!
“To all Manchester United fans, I’m sure you’ll enjoy watching Tyrell represent this great club.
“A huge talent with great fighting spirit – I’m certain he’ll be a good fit.”
Manchester United football director John Murtough also hailed Malacia as an exciting player.
He said: “Tyrell is an exciting, dynamic young footballer with excellent experience for his age, including five seasons in the Eredivisie, a European final and full international honours for the Netherlands.
“We look forward to seeing him continue to develop under the guidance of Erik ten Hag and his coaching team in the years ahead.
“Everyone at Manchester United welcomes Tyrell to the club.”
Malacia will provide competition to Shaw and Alex Telles, and his arrival could signal the end to Brandon Williams’ time at the club.
While Shaw is still expected to start the campaign as Ten Hag’s first-choice left-back, the England international’s injury history could open the door to extensive action for Malacia as the season progresses.
