Former Chelsea and Arsenal defender William Gallas has claimed Manchester United won’t make top four next season under Erik ten Hag.

Gallas believes Tottenham can ’cause trouble to the big clubs’ this season, but feels it will be a battle between Tottenham and Arsenal for fourth place again in the forthcoming Premier League campaign.

Gallas expects Manchester City, Liverpool and Chelsea to finish in the top three next season.

“I think they can cause trouble to the big clubs,’ Gallas told Metro.co.uk for Genting Casino.

“They will cause problems as they will be very strong this season, especially with the mentality of Antonio Conte.”

Asked for his tips for the top four this season, the Frenchman said: “I don’t want to, but I have to put [Manchester] City because they look like they are going to be very strong.

“So City, Chelsea, Liverpool definitely. Then the same problem, Arsenal or Tottenham, I don’t know.”

Gallas was also clear that Manchester United won’t finish in the top four next season.

He added: “Manchester United? I don’t think so, no.”

Meanwhile, Manchester United have confirmed Bruno Fernandes will wear the No.8 shirt vacated by his close friend Juan Mata.

Fernandes switches from No.18 ahead of the 2022/23 campaign and will wear his new shirt number during Manchester United’s pre-season tour.

Fernandes wore the No.8 at Udinese, Sporting and wears it also with the Portugal national team and it was expected he would switch to the shirt number following the exit of Mata this summer.

Fernandes has a number eight tattoo on his arm and was born on that day in September in 1994.
