Manchester United are ready to hijack a deal between Ajax and Dutch striker Brian Brobbey after Erik ten Hag contacted his former player recently, according to The Times.
The 20-year-old striker is under contract at RB Leipzig but has no future with the Bundesliga side.
RB Leipzig value him at around £17million but are willing to accept around £13million for the 20 year old striker.
With Edinson Cavani leaving Manchester United this summer and the future of Cristiano Ronaldo uncertain, Ten Hag wants to strengthen his attack and is ready to reunite with Brobbey at Manchester United.
Brobbey has played 23 Eredivisie games under Ten Hag, scoring ten goals. His speed and bulky stature at 5ft 9in give him an advantage against many centre halves on the ground.
He is great at finding pockets inside the box and converting passes coming from the wing as well from midfielders behind him.
Brobbey, who came through Ajax’s academy, joined RB Leipzig on a free transfer in summer 2021 having been touted as one of Europe’s most promising rising stars
But his move has been a disaster, with the Dutchman failing to get much game time and playing just 124 minutes for RB Leipzig in the first half of last season.
As a result, Brobbey returned to Ajax – and Ten Hag – on loan for the rest of the campaign and impressed again, scoring seven goals in 11 league appearances.
