Manchester United forward Diogo Jota has revealed he won’t be involved in Tuesday’s clash between Liverpool and Manchester United.
“Probably too soon,” Diogo Jota responded to the question of match readiness for the clash between Liverpool and Manchester United.
“As well, because I was with the national team I just came back yesterday as well, so I still need to do the last steps to be 100 per cent with the team so probably that is too soon. But I will be ready very, very soon.
“I think in the end we had a good break, everyone. Obviously the national team players had these extra days [which] were very important as well. I think we all had the opportunity to relax, to start again, to do a little reset and to be ready to go again.
“I think this season could be similar, hopefully, and we need to be ready and of course with the World Cup in between as well [during] the season, that will be an extra factor… so hopefully there is a good season ahead.”
New Liverpool striker Darwin Nunez is also expected to miss the game against Manchester United due to a slight injury.
“Darwin Nunez has come off towards the end of the session. Seems to have a bit of discomfort in his left foot,” The Athletic’s James Pearce said.
“He’s watching the rest of the session perched on a cool box. Looks like he’s got a painful blister. Must be the new boots.”
