Manchester United are favourites to sign Lisandro Martinez after Arsenal cool their interest in signing the Ajax centre-back, according to Metro.
Manchester United and Arsenal have both seen offers for the 24-year-old rejected with the Red Devils recently offering €50million for the Ajax centre-back.
Arsenal have had three offers rejected by Ajax, with their most recent bid said to be €38million.
Martinez is open to joining Manchester United and has twice urged Ajax to accept the offer from the Red Devils.
Recent reports have claimed Ajax have raised their asking price, now demanding €60million for Lisandro Martinez.
Manchester United have made one signing so far this summer in Tyrell Malacia, bringing in the 22-year-old from Feyenoord.
Erik ten Hag has revealed the two areas United must strengthen.
“We want to have the right players,” Ten Hag said this week, ahead of the 4-0 friendly victory over Liverpool in Bangkok.
“We have a really good squad, we are working on to develop our way of playing and if the opportunity is there we will strike [to sign new players].
“I said already definitely we are searching for players in midfield and I think that we have a need in offence. We are still working for players.”
