Manchester United remain keen on signing Ajax centre-back Lisandro Martinez this summer despite the Dutch club rejecting several offers from the Red Devils.

According to transfer expert Fabrizio Romano, Manchester United will meet with Ajax on Wednesday to discuss the transfer of Martinez.

Romano said: “Manchester United will meet with Ajax on Wednesday to discuss Lisandro Martínez deal. Negotiations now entering into key stages.

“Last proposal was turned down but Ajax are finally open to sell Lisandro at their conditions. Player pushing as he wants Premier League move soon.”

Meanwhile, Lisandro Martinez is ready to force his way out of Ajax to seal a move to Manchester United, according to The Mirror.

The 24 year old Argentina defender is ready to stop pre-season training with Ajax if the Dutch club don’t reach an agreement with Manchester United.

Manchester United submitted an offer of €50million to Ajax for Martinez but the Dutch side are yet to make a decision on the offer as they are holding out for close to €60million.

The Mirror adds that Martinez is losing patience with Ajax, who had hoped to encourage a bidding war between United and Arsenal, with the Gunners also chasing the defender.

Martinez has made it clear he wants to join United and Ten Hag’s Old Trafford revolution – and he’s urging Ajax to get a deal done in the next 48 hours.

Martinez and his agent have so far stayed silent but they are said to be disappointed and crucial talks will be held with Ajax in the next few days.
