Manchester United will reportedly sell three players after the signing of Lisandro Martinez from Ajax is completed.

Manchester United are reportedly closing in on signing the 24 year old Ajax centre-back after breakthrough in talks with the Dutch club.

According to The Mirror via The Sun, Manchester United will sell at least three players following the arrival of Martinez.

The report claims Eric Bailly, Axel Tuanzebe and Phil Jones will all be sold “to ensure Erik ten Hag’s squad is not overloaded with centre-backs” next season.

Manchester United skipper Harry Maguire, French World Cup winner Raphael Varane and Swedish international Victor Lindelof will all be battling it out with Martinez for a place in the backline.

The capture of Martinez would be the second signing of Ten Hag’s tenure following left-back Tyrell Malacia’s £13m move from Feyenoord.

Ajax expect Lisandro Martinez to join Manchester United this summer, according to Mike Verweij of Dutch media outlet De Telegraaf.

Manchester United’s last offer for Martinez was €50million, €45million guaranteed plus €5million in add-ons.

However, Ajax are reportedly holding out for a fee of €55million guaranteed and Manchester United are willing to place another bid.

Ajax are already looking for a replacement for Lisandro Martinez, with the Dutch club expecting the centre-back to join Manchester United this summer.
