Mega-rich Newcastle United are reportedly ready to compete with Manchester United and Arsenal for the signature of 18 year old Aston Villa midfielder Carney Chukwuemeka, according to 90min.

Chukwuemeka has just one year left on his Aston Villa contract and is attracting interest from clubs across Europe.

Barcelona, Juventus, Borussia Dortmund, Bayern Munich, Atletico Madrid and Manchester City are also interested in signing the 18 year old midfielder.

According to 90min, Arsenal and Newcastle would be open to trying to land Chukwuemeka this summer, if Villa opted to sell – which could become a possibility if they fail to hammer out a new deal.

The 18-year-old was a cornerstone of England’s recent Under-19 European Championship success – where he scored twice in the final as the Young Lions defeated Israel.

Meanwhile, former Premier League midfielder Robbie Savage lauded son Charlie after Manchester United beat Liverpool 4-0 in our opening pre-season game on Tuesday.

The 19 year old Charlie Savage replaced Fred in the beginning of the second-half and his performance was impressive.

Savage had young teammate Zidane Iqbal alongside him, and they were both excellent as United kept a clean sheet.

Robbie Savage, who also came through Manchester United’s academy, took to social media after the game to praise his son.

“So so proud,” Robbie wrote. “I thought you were terrific, a Maradona turn on edge of your own box. Who did you get that from? Finally, a savage that can play.”
