Barcelona are trying their best to convince Dutch international midfielder Frenkie de Jong to leave and join Manchester United this summer, according to Spanish media outlet AS.

Manchester United and Barcelona have reportedly reached an agreement for the transfer of De Jong but the midfielder isn’t interested in joining Manchester United.

Barcelona need the €85million fee they will receive from Manchester United for the transfer of De Jong as it will be key to financing their own summer deals.

Barcelona also want De Jong to leave this summer as his exit will help lighten their wage bill, with the Dutch midfielder on a €30m-a-year salary.

De Jong is reluctant to leave Barcelona for Manchester United and he does not want to reduce his wages either (Barcelona asked him to reduce his wages if he wants to remain at the Spanish side).

Meanwhile, Man United have reportedly told Barcelona midfielder Frenkie de Jong to make up his mind over an Old Trafford transfer by the end of the week, according to MEN.

The Red Devils have reportedly warned the Barcelona midfielder that the club will move on to other targets if he fails to make a decision this week.

Man United have been in negotiations with Barcelona for a number of weeks now, and while a deal in principle has been agreed, De Jong is reportedly not interested in moving to Old Trafford.

Barcelona are open selling De Jong to the Red Devils this summer but the player himself has indicated that his preference is to stay at the Nou Camp.
