Lisandro Martinez didn’t train with Ajax on Thursday ahead of his transfer to Manchester United, according to Mike Verweij of Dutch media outlet De Telegraaf via The Express.

Manchester United have agreed a £46million (€55million) deal to sign the Argentine defender, with personal terms already agreed ahead of his Old Trafford switch.

Martinez missed training with Ajax on Thursday as he is cautious about risking injury before completing his Manchester United medical and linking up with Erik ten Hag’s squad on their pre-season tour in Australia.

The report adds United figures will soon meet their Ajax counterparts for the last time to finalise paperwork.

It’s understood that if all goes well in the final negotiations and with his medical, Martinez will become a Manchester United player next week.

Martinez will likely become United’s second summer signing after the £15m capture of Feyenoord left-back Tyrell Malacia.

Manchester United have also reached full agreement with Barcelona for the transfer of Frenkie de Jong, according to transfer expert Fabrizio Romano.

Man United will pay a guaranteed fee of €75million plus another €10million in add-ons for the transfer of the Barcelona midfielder.

However, despite reaching an agreement with Barcelona for the transfer of De Jong, the Red Devils are yet to agree personal terms with the midfielder.

According to Romano, De Jong’s preference remains to stay at Barcelona despite Man United reaching an agreement with the Spanish side.

Romano wrote: “Manchester United have reached full agreement with Barcelona for Frenkie de Jong, after further talks. Package worth €85m. Fee guaranteed around €75m plus add-ons.

“Personal terms, still the issue to be resolved – as Frenkie’s priority is to stay at Barcelona.”
