Ten Hag gives update on Cristiano Ronaldo after club offers Manchester United star €125million per year salary (€2.4million per week)
Manchester United boss Erik ten Hag has given an update on the club’s stance on Cristiano Ronaldo after a Saudi club offered the 37 year old forward a whopping salary of €125million per year (€2.4million per week).
The Saudi club have also offered Manchester United a fee of €30million for the transfer of Cristiano Ronaldo.
Despite the massive offer for Cristiano Ronaldo from the Saudi league, Ten Hag insists the Manchester United forward isn’t for sale.
“We made a statement and nothing has changed,” said Ten Hag ahead of Friday’s friendly match against A-League outfit Melbourne Victory at the MCG.
Cristiano Ronaldo isn’t on the pre-season tour with Manchester United amid speculation over his Old Trafford future.
Manchester United continue to insist that Cristiano Ronaldo is not leaving the club but it isn’t yet known if the 37 year old will link up with the team in Australia for the pre-season tour.
Speaking before United’s 4-0 win over Liverpool in Bangkok earlier this week, Ten Hag slammed the door shut on Ronaldo’s attempts to leave Old Trafford.
Ten Hag said in Bangkok: “We are planning for Cristiano Ronaldo for the season and that’s it. I’m looking forward to working with him. Cristiano is not for sale. He is in our plans and we want success together.”
Ten Hag added: “He’s not with us and it’s due to personal issues.
“I spoke with him before this issue came up. I had a conversation with him and I had a good talk. That is between Cristiano and me.
“What I can confirm is we had a really good conversation together. I didn’t speak to him after (the news).”
