Manchester United boss Erik ten Hag admits he’s looking forward to Friday’s pre-season game against Melbourne Victory.

The Red Devils beat Jurgen Klopp’s Liverpool side 4-0 on Tuesday in our first pre-season game.

“We are happy with the game because it’s a different opposition,” Manchester United boss Ten Hag said on Thursday.

“It’s always good to play a different culture. It will be a different approach from Liverpool and Crystal Palace; that’s a club we know what we can expect.

“But Melbourne Victory is different. They play at a good level. They were second in the league last year, so they will be a strong squad. The coach [Tony Popovic] is well known, he is very familiar with top spot and top football.

“So, we are looking forward to this game and we know it will be a good test.”

Meanwhile, Ten Hag has warned Manchester United players and fans not to overestimate the 4-0 victory over Liverpool as Jurgen Klopp’s side were not at their strongest.

However, he admitted he was impressed with the speed of Manchester United’s attack against Liverpool and the creativity up front.

Ten Hag told MUTV: “Liverpool played three teams, they were not at their strongest. We will not overestimate this result.

“But still, I have seen some really good things. A lot of speed and creativity up front.”
