Barcelona will leave Frenkie de Jong out of their squad for their pre-season tour if he turns down a move to Manchester United, according to Catalan newspaper Sport.
Barcelona have reached an agreement with Manchester United for the transfer of Frenkie de Jong but the Dutch midfielder is reluctant to make the move to Old Trafford.
Despite Manchester United reaching an agreement with Barcelona, it’s still uncertain whether or not De Jong will make the move to Old Trafford.
Barcelona have reportedly told De Jong he must make the move to Manchester United due to their desire to get him off the books for financial reasons.
Barcelona have been unable to register new signings Andreas Christensen, Franck Kessie and Raphinha due to financial fair play restrictions.
The LaLiga club need to transfer De Jong to balance their wage bills, with Sergi Roberto and Ousmane Dembele both agreeing to a pay cut with new contracts that keep them at Camp Nou.
Barcelona reportedly owe De Jong around £17million in unpaid wages and it is believed that is also stalling the transfer.
Manchester United have agreed to pay a fee of €75 million, which potentially includes an additional €10m in add-ons for the transfer of De Jong.
