Frenkie de Jong chills in a boat with Barcelona teammate Memphis Depay as Manchester United await his transfer decision
Manchester United transfer target Frenkie de Jong has been unwinding with Barcelona teammate Memphis Depay as the Red Devils await his transfer decision.
Manchester United have reached an agreement with Barcelona for the transfer of Frenkie de Jong but the Dutch midfielder is reluctant to move to Old Trafford.
The Red Devils have agreed to pay Barcelona €75million guaranteed plus €10million in add-ons for the transfer of the Holland international midfielder.
With Manchester United awaiting De Jong’s decision, the midfielder and former Manchester United star Depay were pictured diving into a sea in Barcelona. The pair were also pictured relaxing in a boat.
De Jong is owed £17million in deferred wages by Barcelona and it is believed that is another reason why he is reluctant to leave the Spanish side.
Barcelona are keen on selling De Jong to Manchester United as it would give them a huge financial boost in their bid to get the go-ahead from La Liga to sign and register new players.
Reports have claimed Barcelona have threatened to leave out the midfielder out of their pre-season tour of the USA but that could leave them open to accusations of illegally denying an employee the right to do his job.
Barcelona set off for the USA on Saturday with games against Inter Miami, New York Red Bull, Juventus and Real Madrid lined up.
Will De Jong finally make the move to Manchester United this summer? Only time can tell.
