Revealed: Why Raphael Varane and James Garner didn’t play against Crystal Palace

Manchester United duo Raphael Varane and James Garner didn’t feature in the 3-1 victory over Crystal Palace on Tuesday.

Varane hasn’t featured for Manchester United since the 4-0 victory over Liverpool in our first pre-season game while Garner is yet to play a pre-season game for the Red Devils.

According to a statement from the club, Varane and Garner didn’t feature against Crystal Palace ‘as a precaution’. Their injuries appear to be minor as the club have confirmed they will continue training.

In the absence of Varane, Harry Maguire and Victor Lindelof started together at the back just as they did against Melbourne Victory.
