Manchester United legend Roy Keane has urged Erik ten Hag to add physicality and energy to his midfield.

Ten Hag is keen on signing Frenkie de Jong from Barcelona, having signed Christian Eriksen but Keane wants the club to sign a midfielder with energy and physicality.

“Off the top of my head, it’s the midfield, the middle of the park, where they need some top quality players in there,” Keane told the SkyBet YouTube channel, reflecting on what the Reds need to do address most this summer. “They need some physicality and some energy. That’s where I’d start.”

Keane, also believes several other areas need attention, especially the goalkeeping department.

Keane added: “The whole core, the full-backs, the striker and I’m not convinced with the goalkeeper.”
