Key Liverpool player to miss clash against Manchester United due to injury
Liverpool midfielder Thiago Alcantara will reportedly be out for the next six weeks as a result of the hamstring injury he picked up on the opening weekend of the season.
Thiago suffered a hamstring injury in the 50th minute of Liverpool’s 2-2 draw against Fulham on Saturday.
According to The Athletic via Metro, Thiago will not be back in action until mid-September, meaning he is set to miss Liverpool’s Premier League clash against Manchester United on the 22nd of August.
Despite the injury to Thiago, Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp insists they won’t sign a midfielder.
“A transfer must make sense now and in the long-term,” Klopp said after the Fulham match.
“We have eight midfielders. We still have enough midfielders. It’s not that we lack midfielders, it’s just some of them are injured.
“This isn’t a good situation; I don’t like it at all. We have to see how we react on that, but for sure not panic.”
